Supreme 20th Anniversary Collection – Box Logo and Taxi Driver T-Shirts

Two decades of undeniable success greets Supreme as it celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2014. Rewind back to April, 1994, Supreme’s opening on Lafayette Street was seminal in many ways. Supreme has been pioneering in the ability to find intersections between skateboarding and elements of culture whether it be fashion, music or art. Along the way, it has also provided one of the greatest brand case studies through organic growth and careful management of growth and demand. To celebrate the 20th anniversary, the brand will release two iconic releases originally accompanying the store’s opening on April, 1994. They include the ever familiar Box Logo Tee and the Taxi Driver Tee. Both graphics will also be seen on skateboard decks. The collection drops on April 24 in New York, Los Angeles, London and online while Japan’s release will take place on the 26th.

Nothing better than seeing an iconic brand paying homage to themselves by re-releasing the products that got them to where they are now. With the white t-shirt with the classic Supreme box logo one of my all-time favourite designs, I am looking forward to getting my hands on it when it releases. 

adidas Originals Campus ’80s Primeknit

Last year we got a taste of the potential lifestyle applications for Primeknit when adidas SLVR unveiled its CL-Primeknit and now adidas Originals has applied that concept once again to the adidas Originals Campus silhouette. The Campus ’80s Primeknit features a clean Primeknit upper accented with white leather Three Stripes branding and white knit heel tab.

After seeing the new Nike Flyknit releases and being thoroughly disappointed, I was hoping I would come across another shoe what could replace my old Flyknits for this upcoming summer season. Although I was never a fan of adidas and vowed to remain a Nike loyal, these look very promising and if they are priced right, they will be a definite purchase for me. The navy blue with the white contrast is spectacular. 

WTAPS Spring/Summer 2013 Heraldy Tee – Summer Pickup

A little late on posting this released from WTAPS, but I just wanted to share one of the items I purchased while overseas this summer. My favourite of them all was this WTAPS Hearldry tee which features the brand’s classic logo printed on the back as well as the same logo printed on the front but in a much smaller size. The quality is absolutely fantastic and this has become an easy go-to piece when wearing a simply fit but yet want to add some flair.

Givenchy Stud Tartan Shirt

I personally still think that this is Riccardo Tisci’s greatest piece for Givenchy up to date. Despite the Rottweiler tshirt becoming a bigger cultural phenomenon, this flannel is more influential due to the fact that it”s what paved the way for Hedi Slimane’s rock inspired collection for Saint Laurent to be so successful.

A Closer Look at the POOL Aoyama

Hiroshi Fujiwara‘s much-anticipated the POOL Aoyama launched earlier this month, unveiling with it a selection of exclusive items and collaborations with brands like Nike, Beats and more. In these photos taken by Atsushi Fuseya and Kai Hiroyo, we get a look at the interior of the space, which was formerly the indoor swimming pool of a low-rise apartment. Designed by Japanese architect Nobuo Araki, hanging stainless pipes, elevated shelves and floor tables outfit the interior while authentic detailing — such as the well-worn walls and floors from decades of use —  have been kept to maintain the pool-like atmosphere.

The Godfather of Harajuku continues to make an impact on the culture by opening his own store, curating pieces that are tailored to his taste. Very excited to see the full collection of merchandise that they’ll be carrying at POOL Aoyama. 

 

John Mayer x NEIGHBORHOOD 2014 Annoucement

In celebration of his upcoming trio of Summer 2014 tour dates in Japan, John Mayer has teamed up with designer Shinsuke Takizawa and NEIGHBORHOOD for a limited edition collaboration. Teased by the singer-songwriter/guitar virtuoso himself via Instagram, the collab appears set for a May 1 release at NEIGHBORHOOD’s Harajuku flagship. Stay tuned for a look at the release and look for Mayer to hit Osaka on April 30 before making his way to Tokyo’s famed Budokan for a two-night stand beginning May 2.

One of my favourite artists and brands doing a collaboration? This is very exciting news, can’t wait to see pictures.

visvim 2014 Fall/Winter Collection Preview

Presented at visvim’s showroom for NYFW, the collection at large includes a wide range of shoes, outerwear and shirts under the aesthetic influence of “patina.” In keeping with the brand’s affiliation for traditional wear, expect to see lots of leather and denim goods, coupled with corduroy, herringbone and 100% cotton options.

I know I’ve been posting a lot of visvim lately but can you blame me? Its the brand along with A Bathing Ape that inspired me to start a blog to share these brands with the world and I don’t plan on stopping now. If you’re planning on saving up to purchase some new gear for next Fall/Winter season, well here’s a preview of the collection from visvim. Wes Lang “The Studio” @ ARoS Museum

Including 60 pieces throughout Lang’s career, the showcase also shared a look at Lang’s actual workspace by recreating his own studio in the middle of the exhibition. With doors to the “The Studio” opening this weekend and carrying through till September, the exhibit includes everything from sketches and ornaments to furniture

Those who have been following Kanye West in recent times must know that Wes Lang was the artist who produced the designs for the Yeezus tour merchandise. With this exhibition, you can see where the inherent inspiration comes from as Lang sticks to what he does best to once again produce awesome artwork as well as very rock-inspired designs for Kanye West’s tour. Reminds of Guns N Roses type album art (reference: Appetite for Destruction). Watch the video to hear about Lang’s personal take on his work and his inspirations. 

WTAPS 2014 Harris Tweed Stadium Jackets

Although typically known for its military influences, WTAPS looks to the realm of retro athletic clothing in its latest collaborative effort with Harris Tweed. Releasing three vintage-inspired Stadium Jackets, each one features Harris Tweed’s iconic woven material that’ll surely stand the test of time. Additional details include contrasting piping, leather pocket slits, a quilted lining and WTAPS patchwork.

A little late on posting about these jackets as they’ve been released to the public already but I feel that it is to do so necessary nonetheless because the orange and black colour combination is perfect. It is very hard to use such thematically oriented colours (notable used for Halloween), and place them onto a timeless silhouette such as a stadium jacket and still manage to make it look appealing. What I love most about these Japanese brands is that they can transform an item that has a very basic reference point (high school varsity jackets) and make it wearable to the general public while straying away from the obvious. 

Supreme x The North Face Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

North Face and Supreme present The Expedition Coaches Jacket and Expedition Medium Day Pack Backpack. With a fit and colorways made exclusively for Supreme, the jacket, priced at $338 USD, features a waterproof nylon shell with detachable hood, while the backpack, priced at $148 USD, comes equipped with a water-resistant poly shell.
